Personal Description:
I am mum to two boys, both who have flown the nest. I miss them greatly now that they are based in London but try to visit as much as I can. I love to shop and also exercise, especially pilates. Oh and I do love to cook!

Teaching Experience:

I studied at Dundee College of Education where I gained a Diploma in Primary Education. This was a three year course. I then took another Certificate in Early Years. After leaving College, I taught in both the state and private primary sector. I left teaching to have my children and then to nurse my youngest child who was quite sick for a few years. Once his health was better, I started working as a tutor from home or going to the client's house to tutor. I now tutor seven days a week. I have experience in Maths, Language, Phonics and Grammar. I also tutor children in preparation for entrance exams in to the independent sector, which includes Verbal, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths, Language and Spelling. The children I have tutored have all had great success, many going forward for a scholarship.
I have an online Dyslexia touch type programme which has had tremendous success. Many children, with the school's permission , come to be tutored within school hours.

Tutoring Approach:

I always believe that the child should feel comfortable with the person they are being tutored by and build up a good relationship. Tutoring is not only about helping the child to succeed but also for them to gain confidence and self belief. I have various methods of tutoring from written work, reading and oral work. I also have a computer available where we can work from. eg online games After each lesson, I give the child homework to be completed for the next lesson.

Personal Description:
A former member of the Tutors Association, I have much tuition, coaching, lecturing and training experience; both one-to-one and in groups.
Holding several relevant academic qualifications (including a degree in Maths & Physics), I am also a Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist, and full Corporate Member of the Institute of Physics.
During my career, I have held several senior management positions within several British based companies.
Having a fundamental love of virtually all things mathematical and scientific, I very much enjoy passing on that enthusiasm & knowledge to 'A' Level students, with the aim of enhancing their confidence and skills, & boosting subsequent examination performance.
I hold full and current enhanced DBS accreditation.

Teaching Experience:

I have been offering 'A' Level tuition in Maths & Engineering since
The vast majority of students with whom I have worked have either achieved, or surpassed, their target grades.
During the last academic year (/)) I was pleased to work regularly (typically weekly) with thirteen 'A' Level Maths students (from Bude, Holsworthy, Launceston, Exeter and Barnstaple), one student studying Electrical Engineering at Cardiff University, and one studying Maths with the Open University.

Tutoring Approach:

Being an active participant in, and supporter of, the whole education process, I have also held a four year LEA Governorship at a school in mid-Devon.
My approach to tutoring is, first of all, to talk openly with any potential student (ideally with parent or guardian present) in order to find out what is required, the problems, issues etc.
I treat all students as adults, and do not patronise or talk down to them, ie I treat each one as a mature individual. My aim is to work closely with each student, in the way that best suits him/her, in order to empower him/her with higher levels of knowledge and ability. The result being that their confidence and skill levels increase to those necessary to achieve the best possible exam grades. I encourage my students to actively participate in the tutoring process; to challenge, and to ask questions and discuss all aspects of the work content.
I coach all my students in exam techniques, with emphasis on layout, showing working, best use of time etc.
Last, but certainly not least, I believe it to be of fundamental importance to work with all my students in complete confidence; before, during and after any tutoring involvement.

Hello there, this is Clair here, I`m 24 and am currently undertaking a chemical research PHD in the field of materials chemistry at UCL. I graduated from my undergraduate Chemistry degree at UCL and prior to this I lived in Portsmouth having moved there from Malaysia when I was This coming September I am in line to be secretary of the Chemical and Physical Society, UCL's oldest society.

Aside from Chemistry I am also like running, taking photographs, going to see art, films, music and learning more about the world around me e.g. economics, politics and sociology.

Teaching Experience:

In recent years I have been in junior schools working with children during their science practicals. I have also had regular work tutoring one to one and small groups of KS3-GCSE students and have also been called in to help particular A-level/BTEC science classes. At university I mentor to undergraduate students.

Tutoring Approach:

During our tutoring session we'll do the normal thing of going through past papers but also work hard at actual understanding of the concepts. With me you will be able to understand and enjoy complex scientific and mathematical ideas and consequently get the grades you want and deserve. Hopefully we can work together to make this happen.

View Fahmid's profile or  Quick View

Personal Description:
I am currently working at the Transport Research Laboratory as a Researcher, having achieved my dream of becoming a Mechanical Engineer from the University of Surrey. I previously worked as a Manufacturing Engineer at Ford Motor Company. It has been an exciting time in the past 4 and a half years, in which I have become more innovative and gained a wide array of skills.

Main points to note about me are that I love to help and am enthusiastic about doing so. Teaching is something I thoroughly enjoy as it allows me to share the knowledge I have gained throughout my journey to entering and succeeding at what is now the 4th best university in the country. If you were to hire me, you can be assured that I will give my best effort in ensuring that my student not only improves/excels in his academic studies, but can acquire some insight or knowledge into what it would take to get into one of UK's best universities. Apart from this, I can provide career advice, opinions and assist in creating an excellent future for the student as I have had experience in interviewing, and undergoing the recruitment process, at massive multinational corporations and small companies alike.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught a number of students privately since October culminating in a role as a Teaching Assistant at Paddington Academy, alongside private tuition students. In this time, I have ensured my students had whatever they needed to excel in their studies. This includes support, flexibility, patience and proven teaching methods. This culminated in my students' grades showing improvement along with a greater understanding for the subjects I teach.

I also like to help my friends with understanding and grasping topics they do not understand and have done so in the past. No matter who I teach, I always ensure that they have a good understanding of the subject at hand and the ability to do well. Apart from this, I have worked as a student mentor which further improved my understanding of students from various backgrounds and enabled me to learn new approaches in communication. My success is shown by the positive feedback I have received from parents and students alike about the methods employed along with my general approach to lessons. Along with this, I have a history of improving the understanding and grades of the students under my tutelage.

Lastly, I ensure I provide a holistic view of education. As I have experience interviewing in massive corporate firms, undergoing their application process and have provided careers talks at my previous university, I am able to provide advice and recommendations alongside mentoring to help a student discover the method to achieving their dreams. I also provide them with the tools to do so. Simply put, I have assisted students in learning for the classroom and for the real world.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a friendly approach to tutoring. I try to establish a friendly relationship with the person I would teach. This, I feel, creates a nice atmosphere in which the student would enjoy to learn. I try to relate what I am teaching with practical and interesting examples. At the end of teaching a new topic, and whilst teaching too, I would assess the student to see where he/she stands. The key here is to ENSURE that the student understands what he/she is doing as this is essential to successful results. In order to achieve this, I employ a lot of patience and switch up teaching styles based on the student's needs.

As exams approach, I assess the student using past papers to ensure he/she has the best of chance of passing the exams with good results. Apart from this, I also assist the student by teaching him/her improved note taking techniques, summarising techniques and other useful information to enable the student to use this knowledge throughout his/her education such as A Levels, school, university, etc. I provide homeworks and help summarise notes into easily digestible briefs to refer to just before tests or exams. I am generally strict with marking the aforementioned exams/homeworks and pay attention to particular details as this helps my student in terms of achieving better marks. Passing is always a priority but in my opinion a pass is not enough. I would try to ensure my student gets good marks and not just a pass, i.e. an A, as it is my firm belief that with my help, this is possible for any student I teach.

I inspire my student to not only become better in their studies, but become the best version of him or herself so as to have the correct attitude and ability to achieve their dreams. I show them the big picture and paint an image of the success that awaits them through hard work.

One key point which sets me apart from all the other tutors is that I have first hand knowledge in what it takes to enter a good university along with career advice. This is due to the various number of companies I have previously interviewed it or undertaken the recruitment process for. I also ensure I provide dedication to the job and give everything I have to help improve my student's chances of success. All in all, I provide a holistic approach to my tutoring and ensure the student's needs always comes first.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher with qualified teachers status, who has taught in England and abroad. I have been helping children build up the gaps in their learning level since I am able to discover various learning styles to help children improve their learning. I am currently a supply teacher teaching in Hertfordshire and in Luton. Due to my vast Experience in teaching in various schools as a supply teacher I have an in depth knowledge of the national curriculum for maths and English for key stage 1 and 2 , from years reception to year 6 and have always received positive feedback from students parents. I am a mother of two teenage boys. i now only have tuition sessions in my home. so if you are willing to travel to me i am happy to help .

Teaching Experience:

I have a woaknb.wz.sk from abroad and soon after graduation I taught English and literature for two years in a secondary school(year 8 and 9). In after I gained my PGCE primary and have been teaching in primary schools since then. , covering years 1 to 6 in various schools in london . I now teach in stevenage and surrounding towns. I have been a supply teacher and Tutor for over 12 years .

Tutoring Approach:

when teaching children on a one to one basis, I usually start by giving them a general assessment on their reading and problem solving skills. After this I am able to plan for each child on an individual basis on how to help them improve their levels and fill gaps in their learning. Due to the large number of students that i help i am not able to travel to children any longer so children come to my home for tuition but only in special circumstances do i travel to a child's home on Sundays . I normally teach the children for an hour and then give them homework for further skill practice. I also help children and parents draw up a reading and learning timetable which is very easy to follow, this has proven to be very effective in the past, in helping children become independent learners. My approach is to be friendly but professional and help children relax in order to enjoy learning.

Personal Description:
I have over 35 years of teaching experience and now prefer to work in the private tuition/coaching area because the personal satisfaction is higher.

I have a first class honours degree in chemistry from the University of Leicester, a DPhil from the University of Oxford and a PGCE [Chemistry] from Oxford.

I keep up to date with my subject through regular Continuing Professional Development activities including reading about the subject and attending seminars and courses.

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Chartered Chemist and a Chartered Scientist.

Teaching Experience:

I was Head of Chemistry at Eton College [the famous public school] for four years and taught part time students chemistry at the University of Northampton.

Since I have been an Associate Lecturer in chemistry with The Open University teaching part-time students by distance learning and at Summer Schools. I currently teach 1 Open University chemistry course.

I have been coaching students in science and maths for over 35 years. Post I have extensive specialist background in chemistry for Edexcel, OCR and AQA at AS and A2, including Salters, A-level plus I have experience of the International Baccalaureate, PreU, and supporting vocational courses and home schooled students.

I have supported students in chemistry, biology, physics [as triple or double science, for the AQA, Edexcel and OCR syllabuses (including 21st Century science)] and maths at GCSE/IGCSE for many years and helped with Independent School entrance. I have also supported students studying for equivalency testing for career development.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient, friendly and successful teacher, with over 35 years' experience, specialising in chemistry at GCSE and A-level with experience of IGCSE, IB, pre-U and university level chemistry teaching. In addition I have extensive experience of tutoring science and mathematics to GCSE level including to home schooled students. My experience covers helping students of all ages [from primary to adults] and from all backgrounds. I have a good sense of humour, am used to teaching in groups and in situations. My approach is to boost a students` confidence in a relaxed environment resulting in greater success and self-belief which results in more enjoyment and success - in the subjects being studied.

For those who would prefer on-line tuition I have over 10 years' experience of successfully teaching via the internet using a variety of on-line platforms. On-line teaching allows the use of a variety of additional teaching resources and removes the geographical and time barriers for students.

In-between sessions students can contact me by email or telephone for support with exam questions or school work at no extra charge rather than waiting until the next meeting.

My main teaching slots are on weekdays and in the evenings. I have one slot available for new students on Tuesdays or Wednesday

Currently I am teaching:

3 A-level chemistry students
2 GCSE science students
2 IGCSE maths, chemistry, physics and biology students
2 GCSE maths students
1 Open University course in chemistry

For round trips of over 25 miles I charge £5 to cover the cost of fuel

Personal Description:
My Profile:

Graduated from Leeds University in Genetics and have a deep passion for science. After leaving University, I have worked in the Computing and IT industry to Project Manager level, mainly for large blue chip financial companies such as General Accident (now Aviva), Standard Life, Bank of Scotland, GE Corporate and others. In I decided to return to my original love of science and gained a PGCE teaching qualification to teach science.

It is my aim to transfer my passion and love for science to my students as well as an understanding of the subject in order to enable them to AIM HIGHER and ace their exams.

Building on my science qualification, I gained a PGCE teaching qualification from Huddersfield University to become a qualified teacher of science in Following the successful completion of the PGCE, I rapidly achieved the position of Programme Manager and gained extensive experience of teaching Biology, Chemistry, Physics, BTEC Applied Sciences (Medical Science, Forensic Science, Health and Social Care), Access to Nursing, Access for Medical Professionals and Foundation Degree (Biology). The teaching experience has been in schools, Sixth Form Colleges and Further Education Colleges in Warrington, Leeds and Manchester.

Teaching Experience:

I have been providing select 1 to 1 private tuition in all areas including English, Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Media Studies and Physics.

I am able to tutor from primary, secondary (including entrance exams) through GCSE, A Levels, BTEC (Level 2 and Level 3) and Adult Foundation Degree level.

Tutoring Approach:

The tutor is the expert in subject knowledge and learning but it is the tutee who has the paramount role in their own education and excelling in their subjects. I firmly believe that the role of a tutor is that of a catalyst and the child's role in their own learning is of greater importance. I aim to guide the tutee to learn in a structured manner that so that the child does not waste their time jumping from topic to topic, randomly browsing a bit here and a bit there, as often happens. To do that, as tutor, I will facilitate their learning on a 1 to 1 basis so that they may gain a deeper and greater depth of knowledge of the subject. I will provide the subject knowledge expertise and transfer my knowledge to the tutee in a manner and at a level that is appropriate to the tutee but pushing them beyond their limits to the next stage. To achieve that grade "A*" a GCSE tutee should be able to understand basic AS Level material. For an A Level tutee to achieve the highest grades at A Level they should be able to cope with University first year material with ease. It is my aim to enable my tutees to achieve these goals.

I will work to improve the child's self esteem, self belief and confidence in their ability to do well. As a trained hypnotherapist I am particularly qualified to boost a child's self-esteem. Once the tutee is confident in their subject knowledge, then we will work on exam techniques and exam practice in order to enable the tutee to ace the exams and significantly improve their grades.

I will work with each tutee on an individual basis and adjust the tuition lessons to their needs. There is no standard one size fits all model with me. Homework will be set to enable the subject matter to be reinforced with some self-learning at home. Exam practice will be key to enable the tutee to become proficient in their exams and achieve the highest grades. Exam technique contributes significantly towards exam success. We will always work to enable the tutee to AIM HIGHER.

I am also able to guide sixth formers with their UCAS applications and personal statements.

At all times parents will be involved with the learning of their child so that they may guide and support their child's education and monitor progress. Parental involvement is also a major factor in the child's success.

For the science lessons my aim is to include as much practical work as is possible, where this is feasible in a tuition setting, keeping safety of the child of paramount importance.

If your child is quiet and shy or is in a mediocre class or is just coasting along or is struggling to achieve the grades required to get into the University course of their choice, whether it is Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacology, Engineering, Computing, Optometry or other science course, then tuition with myself will enable them to boost their grades and give them the advantage that they need. Honest school teachers will tell you that it is the noisy and disruptive pupils that get their attention, whereas the quite shy hardworking pupils tend to get neglected. Busy school teachers just do not have the time or energy to devote to helping their quieter or weaker pupils and it is these pupils that especially benefit from extra personal tuition. On the other hand a brighter pupil may be so far ahead of his or her peers that the teacher is just not able to give them the attention they need. A good tutor will help guide tutees who want to learn to get ahead and avoid becoming disinterested or bored. Why leave it to chance?

It is never too early to start boosting a child's education. For primary school children it is important that they get a good start to their education and do not lag behind. A tuition boost will enable them to get into a better school or a higher stream set so that they do not have to struggle or get left behind when the come to do their GCSE and A Levels.

I also have experience of vocational courses such as the BTEC and Applied Science courses and I am able to provide the additional guidance and support required to ensure that your child achieves Distinctions rather than passes in their assignments. It is not my policy to do the tutee's coursework for them but to help, guide and support their research and provide constructive feedback.

Tutees will be required to complete all assessments and homework on time in advance of the relevant lesson.

I have a PhD in Physics and BSc Maths/Physics Jt Honours 1st Class. I am a co-author of over 60 peer reviewed papers in science journals and was a research scientist for 27 years in the world renowned Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and Technology Facilities Council which helps keep the UK at the forefront of international science and technology. I ran the operations of a world class X-ray photoelectron spectrometer for a wide range of applications in physics, chemistry, biology and material science.
I am a qualified martial arts instructor and teach the Chinese Wing Chun system. I believe sports can contribute towards an all round education and under proper supervision, martial arts can offer health benefits and is beneficial for mental and physical discipline. I am also interested in the promotion of the Chinese language because I am of Chinese origin and can speak Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I also enjoy salsa dancing, music, fell walking, yoga and travel.

Teaching Experience:

Although semi-retired, I am still passionate about science and after gaining my PGCE teaching qualification in , I am now embarking on helping GCSE and A level students with private tuition. My vast experience in training postgraduate students and working with scientists in solving real problems both academically and in industry brings in an invaluable real life dimension to the learning experience of the students.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching is conducted in a relaxed but studious atmosphere and is tailored to individual needs with realistic targets. I use effective questioning and past examination papers for assessment which allow students to monitor their own progress.
I was a 16 years old migrant from Hong Kong when I first came to England in , so I can certainly relate to problems such as racism, misunderstanding of and by others, loneliness, lack of empathy and learning barriers.

Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher, specialising in Mathematics and Science, but with a background in engineering. I gained my degree in Aeronautical Engineering back in the late 70's, having chosen the subject mainly to continue with my love of applied maths. I worked for some years as an aerodynamicist before studying for my PGCE in Cambridge.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Mathematics in the capacity of a supply teacher and that of a 1 To 1 Tutor for some years now. This has allowed me to continue to work whilst also taking a major role in the wider education of my children who are now themselves studying at university. I was a Governor of 2 schools in Wiltshire, involved with PTFA here in Lancashire and help to run Preston Pride Basketball Club. For 2 years I successfully tutored pupils in school at Fleetwood High and more recently I taught Catch-up GCSE mathematics to students at Cardinal Newman College, helping them to gain some very good results.

Tutoring Approach:

I try to make lessons enjoyable, believing that learning happens more easily when you are having fun. For many students a few lessons 1-to-1 with a sympathetic teacher will help them to gain a surprising amount of confidence, allowing them to partake more fully in their class at school. I will tailor lessons to each individual's needs, without compromising on curriculum or attainment. I firmly believe in the basic values that respect every individual and strive to help everyone achieve their potential.

Personal Description:
From an early age I have been extremely enthusiastic about mathematics and since leaving education, and before I chose to pursue a career in education, I have been fascinated by learning and problem solving. I am currently a teacher in a new school in Hackney, East London. The college is for year olds so I specialise in GCSE and A-Level maths teaching. We cater for a range of different backgrounds and abilities which requires the staff to have a wide ranging skill-set. I have previously taught for 5 full years, including 2 years at a international school, and have 3 years teaching experience in the UK. My previous school was an independent international school. In all my years as a teacher I have taught GCSE classes and have come to have a sound knowledge of both AQA and Edexcel curriculums. I am also aware that GCSEs serve 2 purposes - one to gain a specific skill set and acquire subject knowledge, the other to achieve a prestigious and important qualification. I have worked in business for several years since completing a maths masters degree at Leeds University. As a relatively new teacher I have a fresh perspective on current barriers to learning and misconceptions within my chosen subject.

Teaching Experience:

1 year working in East London, 2 years overseas in the Dominican Republic (students are 95% native Spanish speakers), 3 years in England, 1 year PGCE training incorporating placements at 2 schools in Louth (North East Lincolnshire), trained at Lincoln BGUC. I am currently curriculum leader for maths at my college and have been acting head of department at my previous school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the key to learning is presenting a new topic in a way that the learner can engage with best. I would aim to break a complex problem down into smaller more manageable parts. Maths is a subject where each new concept is just a collection of previously learnt skills or techniques used in a specific way. I would visit the house of the tutee under the supervision of a parent. Also, if acceptable, I would try to involve a parent in the tuition process so that they can work with the tutee at a later date, if they thought it would help. I am happy to set additional work to be finished between tuition sessions, if the parent and tutee consent to this. I aim to not only help the tutee in acquiring the grade they want but also to improve their confidence in maths and help inspire them to enjoy the subject more.

Personal Description:
I work as a Maths Academic Mentor in a local secondary school. I work with students on the borderline of success. My job is to raise their understanding of Maths and to help them raise their attainment along the way to getting a grade 'C' in Maths.
I am very reliable, flexible to your childs learning style with an open mind and a non judgemental attitude.

Teaching Experience:

I spend my time at school in identifying students who are not working at their potential levels in Maths. I work across all the years, but specifically Years 10/
Once identified, I work with students in class, one to one, or with small groups and also afterschool. The majority of students in my group will be around the grade D/C borderline and my job is to take them that one step forwards to a secure grade C and then onwards to higher grades. However, I can help your child Improve at any level including A and A*.
This is what I do everyday and over the years I have built a very firm understanding of the aspects of Maths and the specific topics which cause students to lose marks.

Tutoring Approach:

It's important to build relations with students, to promote confidence and encourage independent learning.

This takes time, but once I identify the areas of difficulty for the student. I can target those areas (Fractions, Factorising, Percentages for example) and along with the major 12 topics of Maths which contain the 'must get' marks, I can help your child to make weekly progress by teaching, practising and then testing, to check their learning is progressing. .

Personal Description:
I am a recent Masters graduate from the London School of Economics. Having spent the last 5 years in higher education, I feel I have the right skills and knowledge to tutor students from all ages. I have been tutoring various 11+, GCSE, and A-Level students for the past 10 years, as well as running various economics workshops for the LSE. The mixture of interaction and application I employ throughout all my tutoring sessions ensure students enjoy and get a great deal from my lessons.

Teaching Experience:

Taught economics workshops at the LSE to over GCSE students.
Taught maths workshops to both GCSE and A-Level students. Most students I teach jump up at least 2 grades within a year.
Having successfully undertaken the 11+ entrance exams, and in doing so studied at one of the most renown grammar schools in London, I have taught many prospective students the tools to pass these rigorous exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Fun and interactive, with a strong desire to make sure the students fully understand the material. Where I believe I differentiate myself from other tutors is my ability to adapt to each student. This ensures each student has their own independent, unique class. No two students are the same, so why should the lessons be?

If you are looking to apply to Oxbridge or another Russell group university, I can provide better tuition than someone who has not been to Oxbridge and does not know the system.

I have been tutoring Mathematics at all levels from GCSE to university for 3 years. I have also tutored English at GCSE level.

My full time career is with the House of Commons, and I am able to offer career guidance having worked both in banking and politics. My time in Cambridge means I can give guidance about Oxbridge applications.

I am also a school governor at Chingford Academy and as a result have knowledge of the current GCSE curriculum. My fees have not changed over the last 10 years I have been tutoring.

I hope you will choose me.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Mathematics at all levels from GCSE, A Level and even university for 3 years. I have also tutored English at GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is very student centric - focused on the needs of the student. If I believe theory is lacking, I will explain the theory in a comprehensive way. If I believe application is missing, I will go over many questions, guiding the student through them. I have a mix of my own questions and past paper questions that I use. As the exams draw nearer I will focus more on past papers.

I also give each student, if they or the parents want it, activities to do which I will mark at the next session. This is like homework except I will try to make it more engaging and fun. None of my activities are generalised - I will base each on what the student requires. For example, in the past my activities have ranged from book work, to a problem solving puzzle to solve over the course of the week, to an essay, to even a relatively light exercise of reading any magazine article and giving a presentation on it.

Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun ), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. In addition, I am able to speak additional languages (Punjabi; studied up to GCE A-level and Hindi) and prepared to travel up to 5 miles. I have been tutoring Yr 7 - 13 students, in Maths and all Science subjects, since Oct In addition, I have prepared students from Yr 6, for the 11+ exams; frequently used by private schools, as entrance exams. Testimonials / References (from Students and Parents) are available, on request.

Teaching Experience:

During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During /6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. In the past, I have also been responsible for organising and running the weekly classes at the Sikh Temple (Gurdwara), for teaching youngsters the Sikh way of life & Punjabi culture, in helping to improve their knowledge and integration into the Western Society over a period of ten years.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide tuition to individual students (or small groups) in the form of friendly, relaxed lessons. Teaching sessions are always customised to meet the specific requirement of the students. Generally, I enjoy teaching and considered to have a caring approach. I use a combination of computer and 'white board' based approach, for creating informal interactive / discussion type sessions, with some form of regular tests and re-cap sessions. Closer to the exams, the lessons are much more focused on using past papers covering a wide range of questions, to enable the students increase their confidence in preparation for the examinations.

Personal Description:
Hi! My name is Mark and I have lived in Belfast for 20 years. I have always loved mathematics, and loved learning more about it. I hope to pass on my enthusiasm for the subject to you and help you maximise your potential. If you're coming up to major exams, I can help you get the best grade possible for you!

Teaching Experience:

I have lectured in Queen's University for 10 years, and have been teaching others mathematics for longer. My private students have done well with my support, and I can bring the best out of you too.

Tutoring Approach:

For some people maths is easy and enjoyable - you just need help sharpening up your examination skills and revising in a new way to get a top grade.

For other people maths is a challenge - you get the general idea but need help understanding some principles, and certainly need to practice in order to get the grade you deserve.

I have worked with both types of people for years, and I can work with you! I offer one-to-one tutorial sessions, in my home or yours, backed up by email and telephone support where needed.

Personal Description:
I`m currently an A-Level Economics and Maths teacher at University College School (UCS). I also privately tutor Mathematics, Economics and Statistics to GCSE, A-Level and University Level students. My students have always achieved outstanding results and I believe I have the skills required to bring out the best in my students.

Teaching Experience:

Over the past 7 years, I have been teaching A-Level Mathematics and Economics. I also teach degree level Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Econometrics.

My students are from top universities- some of which include University of Cambridge, LSE, Royal Holloway, University College London, University of Bristol, Regents Business School, University of Edinburgh, King's College London, University of Warwick, University of Bath, University of Manchester, CAS Business School and the University of Westminster.

I also mentor students facing difficulties in terms of selecting modules and guide them during exam preparations. I also tutor students studying foundation degrees in order to assist them in achieving the grades required for universities they aspire to join.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always possessed a passion for working with young people, focusing on discussing their individual goals in order to be the window through which many young people will see their future. I focus on motivating my students by using creative and inspirational methods of teaching. What makes me stand out from the rest of the crowd is my different approach in teaching because of which students enjoy my classes and seek out to me for new ideas. My goal is not to simply teach students, it more about investing in them with all my effort. I have always believed in helping students in setting realistic goals and assisting them in achieving standards which maximize their potential. I seek ways to branch out my knowledge and passion for teaching. Gaining confidence and trust of my students is essential to me. Therefore, I ensure that I employ teaching techniques which aim at developing a mutual understanding with my students which helps them feel comfortable while seeking my assistance. I am flexible with my teaching methods in order to cater to the particular requirements of every student that I teach. I work towards establishing a rapport with my students, and put in sincere effort in assisting them with their education patiently, in every way possible.

Personal Description:
I thoroughly enjoy teaching by gaining the child's attention and keeping them determined to always achieve their best. I'm a very enthusiastic and confident individual who is committed to enhance students' self esteem. Since I've recently graduated from University College London student myself; I find it very easy to get along with younger learners, making sure the lesson is not only informative but enjoyable too. As a part time pharmacist I feel that I am well equiped to show empathy and understanding towards my tutees. I strive for continued excellence; I won the pre-registeration of the year by the Royal Pharmaceutical Science. Therefore I look forward to helping my tutees achieve their best too.
I tutor from home, mainly because I have a large whiteboard and seem to find it very helpful when interacting with my students. However, I do also teach at local places, such as the Library.

Updated on 29/01/ In the last two weeks I have had a huge number of new students and in order to maintain the good standards of my lessons I have had to increase the prices. I am now well equipped with good resources for the new examboard () including many exam style questions.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring Maths and Science up to GCSE level privately for over 6 years now. Thus, I have worked with young learners from all walks of life, some even with special needs. I have developed my skills on how to become sympathetic and easy going with my students, yet firm and serious when necessary. This is because I feel it is important to allow the student to feel at ease during the lesson, however, they should concentrate on their work at the same time.
Furthermore, during academic year I worked at an Arabic School as a teacher's assistant. I also volunteered for various organisations, such as a maths assistant at Friary park community centre, and in I assisted in a Reception class in Derwentwater Primary school.
I was employed at Kumon and part time at First Class Learning, tutoring Maths and English to children of all ages between I have worked with children as young as three. Working in these centres has taught me how to ensure the students stay focused at all times. Moreover, I am continually developing new skills through the ongoing experiences.
NB: The subject "Medicine" for university includes ONLY pharmacist Pre-reg calculation lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I tend to use a variety of methods when teaching, depending on the child and their needs, focusing on their age and what their syllabus requires. I am capable to do quick summarised revision sessions, as well as long term lesson plans. Either way I ensure that the student is always given homework and stays revising. I also do small mastery tests at the start of each lesson which consists of a five minute recap test, so the student is required to have revised the previous lesson well. Obviously if they struggle with the homework or mastery test, then the lesson plan's pace is adjusted to meet the child's level. This helps to ensure that the student masters each topic before moving on to the next.

Personal Description:
I'm a year-old graduate of the University of Cambridge, having recently completed my studies and earning a First-Class Honours degree in Natural Sciences (Physics) with a Merit at the Masters course in Mathematics. Have lived in Leeds for a while, moving to Edinburgh to work on a PhD at the end of the Summer. Am keen on sharing my knowledge and experience with the next generation.

Teaching Experience:

Have spent two separate periods of two weeks volunteering at a local high school and assisting in Maths lessons. Worked with students of all ages and abilities from Years 7 through to 13, and gave presentations about my work at University.

Tutored one student between November and April with positive feedback. A reference is not yet available. I have worked in the past with several students during lessons, and also spent one hour with a student that helped life her GCSE maths grade from B to A. In addition have prepared several fully-worked and explained answers to questions posted online (links available on request).

Tutoring Approach:

I try to ensure that the student is guided through the subject as clearly as possible, with a lot of questions asked of the student when appropriate, that hopefully will allow him/her to think through the topic for themselves. In addition I aim to provide a clear understanding of why the topic being studied is important/ where it allows us to end up, and so on.

Personal Description:
My aim is to help each student reach their potential through individually tailored lessons designed to make learning enjoyable. I have a strong belief that for people of all ages, learning can be fun, and if you relish the process, you are much more likely to learn something!

Every lesson includes the use of several workbooks, learning diagrams, reading books, learning games and rewards (for younger students) ranging from stickers to special prizes for the hardest workers!

I also believe that a hugely understated part of any teachers role is to give a student confidence, as when belief is established, the student's results tend to rapidly improve as well. Therefore my extremely enthusiastic approach to tutoring is vital in building a students confidence and skyrocketing upwards in levels.

There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student achieve what they set out to do, be it a particular grade they need to obtain or a skill they need to develop.

Teaching Experience:

For over nine years I have been teaching English, Literacy and Reading from my own home. I have an Honours Degree in English Language BA (Hons).

Recent Testimonials:

Ellen (10)
Year 6 SATS

Ellen was described as just below the expected level for English. We also felt her spelling was often poor and she struggled with extended writing. The main thing we have noticed is Ellen's confidence, attitude to learning and overall happiness: the improvement is immense. Ellen has now adapted a 'can do' attitude and revels in articulating what she has learnt with David. David is incredibly enthusiastic and positive, an approach that has really worked with Ellen. Speaking as a teacher, it is also clear that he understands the amendment procedures for Key Stage 2 and therefore every minute of every lesson is preparing Ellen for success. Ultimately my daughter loves to attend David's lesson and loves learning now!

Score: 10/10

Jack (16)
GCSE's

Jack's mock results were an E in English Language as well as a D in literature and he wanted to do Economics A level which required a B grade in his final GCSE. Jack had two hours of tuition per week from January to May. He enjoyed going (this surprised me as he hated English before the sessions) and had a new found likeness for literacy. He received a B in both language and literature and can now do A level economics. Jack related very well to David- this made learning easier for Jack and he obtained the grades he needed. His teachers at school noticed a marked improvement in his work when he was having tuition.

Score: 10/10

Oliver (6)
Year 2

Oliver was falling behind in Math's and English. I am very happy to say that his confidence and his ability to retain what David teaches him has improved greatly. His teachers at school have also commented on his marked improvement and he now feels a sense of achievement in everything he does- he also speaks of making David proud. David was/is exactly what I was looking for. Oliver doesn't seem to think about his lesson as lesson, he genuinely enjoys spending Saturday mornings at David's as he now really wants to improve himself! Wow!!!

Personal Description:
I have recently completed a PhD in Applied Maths, and wish to use some of my experience of the subject to help other students reach their potential.

Teaching Experience:

I have several years of experience of tutoring undergraduate students in maths at the University of Sheffield. These were mostly Fundamental and 1st year maths courses, at a similar standard to A-level.

Tutoring Approach:

I can provide one-to-one or small group tuition in a relaxed, friendly environment tailored to the student's needs. My approach is mainly to establish areas of weakness in the student's understanding, and try to help them overcome these by explaining the basic principles and working through example questions with them.
