Dr. George A. Pruitt Endowed Presidential Scholarship

The Dr. George A. Pruitt Endowed Presidential Scholarship was established in through contributions to the Dr. George A. Pruitt Presidential Scholarship Endowed Fund. Dr. Pruitt is the current president of Thomas Edison State University and began his tenure in that position in This scholarship is awarded to students currently enrolled in or seeking enrollment in a graduate program at Thomas Edison State University.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following:

  • Academic Level: Graduate
  • Enrollment Status: Applicant or Enrolled
  • Type of degree/certificate: Any graduate degree or certificate
  • Other Criteria:
    • Consideration of applications for this scholarship will be based in part on any compelling factors described in the essay submitted in the application.

Award Criteria: To be considered for an award, the student must meet the following:

  • Meet all eligibility criteria described on the respective scholarship's webpage.
  • Submit a completed Thomas Edison State University Scholarship Application during the application period.
  • Have applied for federal and State (NJ residents only) financial aid through the FAFSA and the Thomas Edison State University Financial Aid Application.
  • Submit any required supplemental documentation before the end of the application period.
  • Students enrolled with the University at the time of scholarship application must have:
    • Completed a minimum of 12 Thomas Edison State University credits, with at least six hours being from Online or Guided Study courses.
    • A minimum Thomas Edison State University GPA of at the time of application.
    • Successfully completed a minimum of 66 percent of courses attempted at Thomas Edison State University. Incompletes, withdrawals, and failed classes do not count as completed credits.
  • Students admitted to the University but not enrolled at the time of scholarship application (Applicants):
    • May have completed Thomas Edison State University credits by any credit earning method.
    • Have a minimum Thomas Edison State University GPA of in any credits completed.

As ACK are an Approved Part/CAR Maintenance Training Organisation, all of our Part/CAR courses are examined in-house, and the initial exam fees are always included in the prices quoted.

Approved Part Maintenance Training Organization

Part/CAR

Part/CAR regulations defines the requirements concerning the knowledge, qualifications and experience of personnel, who carry out aeronautical maintenance and each certified person, must have the appropriate license.

EASA Part defines the following categories of Certifying Staff:

  • A   -  Maintenance Certifying Mechanic
  • B1 -  Maintenance Certifying Technician (Mechanical)
  • B2 -  Maintenance Certifying Technician (Avionics)
  • B3 -  Maintenance Certifying Technician (Mechanical)
  • C   -  Base Maintenance Certifying Engineer

GCAA CAR defines the following categories of Certifying Staff:

  • A   -  Maintenance Certifying Mechanic
  • B1 -  Maintenance Certifying Technician (Mechanical)
  • B2 -  Maintenance Certifying Technician (Avionics)
  • C   -  Base Maintenance Certifying Engineer

Note: Please take into account that with all of these licences, it is not just a matter of attending a course and you get the licence; you also need to provide proof that you have completed the required amount of work experience within an Part/CAR approved maintenance organization or equivalent.

Approved Part/CAR examinations have a 10 year shelf life and you can study at your own pace, but please remember that within this time you also need to gain your experience and at least 6 months of the experience must be gained within the last 12 months, before you apply for your licence.

Part/CAR

Part/CAR describes the training standards that an organization has to achieve, in order to be approved to deliver training and examinations against Part/CAR

The Part/CAR regulation defines the requirements concerning:

  • The organization of the Training Centre (human resources, equipment, etc.)
  • The training and examination procedures.
  • The quality system procedures.

All the training organization specifications are recorded in the MTOE (Maintenance Training Organization Exposition).

This regulation applies to all maintenance personnel training centres.

ACK as a Part/CAR approved training organization is authorized to carry out basic training, type qualification and the corresponding examinations (when included in its scope of activity).

Part/CAR Approved Basic Training Course

The basic aeronautical training delivered at a Part/CAR approved maintenance training organization includes:

  • A theory part (Part/CAR)
  • A practical part consisting of two parts:
    • Part/CAR (Basic operational work experience)
    • Part/CAR (Basic practical skills)

At the end of the training course, students will be awarded with their relevant Diplomas and Certificates of Recognition.

In this case, they will be able to work towards gaining a Part/CAR license, if they also do an aircraft-type qualification and acquire professional experience, for both the aircraft and the engine.

Part/CAR Category B Licence

The Part/CAR definition of the CAT B Licence and modules are as follows:

  • CAT B Licence:  Permits the holder to issue certifications of release to service following maintenance, including aircraft structure, power plants and mechanical and electrical systems. Authorisation to replace avionic LRU’s requiring simple tests to prove their serviceability is also permitted. Category B staff can qualify for any “A” sub category as can any avionic mechanic, subject to compliance with the appropriate “A” sub category requirements.
  • The knowledge requirements for the Category B maintenance licence are structured into modules, as per the table below.
